The Montverde Academy's boys basketball team fell short against IMG Academy, 68-62 in a highly competitive matchup on day two of the IMG Event in Bradenton and MVA's final regular season game of the 2024-25 season.
Senior Trent Sisley led Montverde with an efficient 24 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the field and knocking down three three-pointers. He also contributed five rebounds and a block. Dante Allen added 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Javion Tyndale scored 11 points while hitting three three-pointers. CJ Ingram recorded a near double-double with seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Eagles got off to a solid start, shooting 42.9% from the field in the first quarter and building a 14-6 lead early on.
However, IMG Academy battled back, and by halftime they owned a one point lead 30-29.
The second half saw the Eagles continue to compete, and the Eagles led most of the third quarter in a back-and-forth battle before IMG had a narrow two-point lead by the end of the period at 49-47.
MVA tied the score once more at the start of the fourth quarter, but a 5-0 spurt by IMG Academy gave them the lead for good
The Eagles are now 19-6 on the year and return to action for the Nike EYBL Scholastic post season tournament from Thursday March 6 through Thursday March 8 in Augusta, Ga. Exact time and date of the Eagles' first round game is still to be determined.
