Playing in its final tune-up before the 2025 MAIST tournament, the Montverde Academy softball team defeated The Geneva School 18-0 in Casselberry on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles are now 2-0 on the young season and have outscored opponents by a combined 39-0 through the first two games.

La'Breah Sands made her first start of the season and pitched a no-hitter and struck out six in the shortened five inning game.

Luna Taboas went 3-for-5 with two runs and two runs batted in, while Danika Spinogatti and Elena Friedman had two hits each. Ashley Berkemeier went 1-for-3 with a triple and three runs batted in.

MVA scored six runs in the top of the first to lead 6-0 before even taking the field. The Eagles scored another five runs to lead 11-0 by the second inning en route to the win.

MVA is back in action on Thursday against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 2:30 pm in the first game of the 2025 MAIST tournament.
