MAIST Results: Day Two

Game 4: Oakleaf defeated Episcopal 7-2

Oakleaf High School defeated the Episcopal School 7- 2, in game four of the MAIST tournament. 

Oakleaf starting pitcher Charlotte Maddox was dominating in the circle with 11 strikeouts, At the plate she went 1-for-4 with three runs batted in.

Meanwhile Jayden Beall helped supply the offense going 3-for-4 and scored twice. Lexi Fisher went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice.

Episcopal was led by Crissie Clayman who went 3-for-5 with a double, Claire Cinnamond who was 2-for-5 with a double and a run, and Riley Valent who went 2-for-4 with a run and a run batted in. 

Valient suffered the loss in the pitching circle, going 7.0 innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) with 10 strikeouts.


Game 5: East Lake defeated Middleburg 7-1

East Lake scored two runs in the top of the first and another two in the top of the third en route to leading from start to finish in a 7-1 win over Middleberg.

Lucy Mondok led East Lake both in the pitching circle and at the plate. In the circle she pitched a complete game, allowing one (unearned) run on three hits while striking out seven. At the plate she went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and three runs batted in. Teammate Khloe Roberts was 1-for-2 with a pair of runs batted in. 

Middleburg salvaged three hits, including one each by KK Hagan, Emma Ward and Mallory Ficklin.

Middleburg pitcher Lily Bennett suffered the loss going 6.0 innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits.


Game 6: Middleburg defeated Episcopal 11-0

Middleburg dominated from start to finish in an 11-0 win over the Episcopal School of Jacksonville in the third game of the MAIST tournament Friday night at Montverde Academy.

Middleburg had standout performances from Kerra Clarida, KK Hagan and Cloey Ballinger. 

Clarida went 3-for-5 with three runs, a homerun, and three runs batted in. Hagan went 2-for-4 and scored three times. Ballinger went 1-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in.

Karleigh Sanford pitched 7.0 innings allowing no runs and had four strikeouts.

Middleburg scored twice in the second, third and fifth innings and scored four times in the seventh inning. 

Episcopal had four hits in the contest with one each coming off the bat of Crissie Clayman, Chloe Hodges, Emily Davidson and Chelsea Dever.


Game 7: East Lake defetaed Oakleaf 13-1

East Lake secured a convincing 13-0 victory over Oakleaf in game seven of the tournament

East Lake combined for a total of 17 hits during the game Lucy Mondok had a standout performance going 3-for-4 with a home run,and four runs batted in. Anna Folger went 3-for-4 and scored three times, and Megan Bostak went 2-for-4 with three runs and two runs batted in.

Oakleaf was limited to two hits in the game, one by Jayden Bell and the other by Charlotte Maddox.

Lucy Mondok earned the win in the circle pitching 6.0 shutout innings of relief.


Game 8: Montverde Academy defeated Winter Springs 5-2

Miranda Murch and Danika Spinogatti both hit solo home runs, and Elena Friedman broke a 2-2 tie with a double in the bottom of the sixth to help Montverde Academy to a 5-2 win.

Missy Odom pitched 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits before giving way to Nevaeh Williams who earned the win after getting the final four outs while striking out three.

Alondra Maldanado went 1-for-2 with a home run for Winter Springs.

Winter Springs pitcher Tiffany Seeman suffered the loss after going 6.0 innings and allowing five runs on five hits while striking out four.
