2025 MAIT Recap: Another Unforgettable Event

The 2025 edition of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament  (MAIT) was full of school spirit and great basketball!

The turnout of the games on both boys and girls end was incredible, with the Montverde Academy boys basketball team, in front of another capacity crowd, winning the championship, and the girls team winning all three of its games played in conjunction with the tournament.

Throughout the weekend the student section (The Flock) was overflowing with exuberant students willing the Eagles to victory each night.

The boys basketball team earned a 40-point win over local rival Windermere Prep on Thursday evening to set the stage of the action packed exciting to come on Thursday and Friday. The team rallied behind the enthusiasm of The Flock to come back from a double-digit deficit to beat Calvary Christian on Friday to solidify its spot in the MAIT championship game. And in the MAIT championship, the Eagles got to hoist the championship trophy after a 51-48 win over CIA Bella Vista.

The girls basketball team was dominant in its win on Thursday evening against Fort Erie International in a game that was sweet revenge for the Eagles, averting another loss against the only team that defeated them this season. On Friday, the girls won again, in a close battle against fellow nationally ranked Long Island Lutheran. On Saturday, the ladies made fast work of Newman High School in a game that went to a running clock in the latter stages of the one sided affair.

Montverde boys' came back from a 10 point deficit at halftime, and with the help of the roaring crowd fought back to win the game and with the student section rushing the court the Eagles advanced to the Championship game.

On a more than just basketball level, the entire school, from Lower School to Middle School to Upper School showed out in support.

The Lower School Choir  got the action started on Thursday and Friday evening with the singing the National Anthem. The Lower School cheer team performed alongside the Pom Squad during halftime of the girls game on Thursday evening.

Arts and Athletics Committee (AALC) put together games like the hula hoop contest on Friday with participation from several fans among the overwhelming number of attendees. Also, the Montverde Academy pep band performed many songs that had the fans rocking to all weekend.

"It was incredible to see our student body rally behind our teams, creating the home-court advantage every program dreams of having when a game is close," said Montverde Academy Head of School Jon Hopman.

All in all MAIT 2025 was another amazing event for Montverde Academy, and was a massive success for all who were lucky enough to attend.
