The Montverde Academy baseball team went 2-for-2 on Wednesday afternoon in Sanford.
The Eagles defeated East Ridge High School 6-3 before beating Eustis High School 14-1 in a pair of games at the Florida High School Invitational Tournament.
MVA improves to 7-4 overall this season.
Game 1: MVA 6 East Ridge 3:
In the win over East Ridge High School, the Eagles were led by Jonathan Valdez, who went 3-for-3 with a run batted in, and Jovan Familia who went 2-for-3 , scored a run and drove in two. Santi MarinÂ
Santi Marin went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and a run batted in. His double came in the bottom of the fifth that commenced a three run rally that broke a 3-3 tie.
Freshman pitcher Sid Goecke earned the win, going 5.0 innings and allowing three (one earned) runs on four hits. Teammate Rainer Garcia pitched two innings of relief and faced the minimum.
Game 1: MVA 14 Eustis 1:
Against Eustis, The Eagles scored a run in the top of the first, another three in the top of the second and seven more in the top of the third to take a 11-0 lead after three innings, and MVA coasted from there.
Donati Fronduto went 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run and four runs batted in, while Carlos Feliciano went 3-for-4 with a run and a run batted in. Santi Marin went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and runs batted in.
Tyler Severs earned the win going 5.0 innings and allowing one (unearned) run on six hits.
MVA will look for another win on Thursday with a game against IMG Academy at 1:00 pm.
