Boys Basketball Earns Chipotle High School Nationals Championship Bid, Will Play Dynamic Prep in First Round

MONTVERDE, Fla. (March 13, 2025) – After a successful regular season that saw it go 19-7 overall, the Montverde Academy boys basketball team has earned a bid into the 2025 Chipotle High School National Championship tournament in Fishers, Indiana from April 2 - 5.

The eight time national champion Eagles have earned the No. 7 seed in the 10 team tournament, and will play a first round game on Wednesday April 2 at 6:15 pm against No. 10 seed Dynamic Prep.

Should the Eagles win that game, MVA will advance into the quarterfinal round Thursday April 3 at 4:00 pm to play against No. 2 seed Link Academy.

A win there will put the Eagles in the semifinal round where they will play either No. 3 seed Long Island Lutheran or No. 6 seed Prolific Prep on Friday, April 4 at 2:30 pm.

A semifinal round win will put MVA in the championship round for a chance to win its unprecedented ninth national championship on Saturday, April 5 at 12:00 pm. against one of the five other teams in the tournament: No. 1 seed Christopher Columbus, No. 4 seed Brewster Academy, No. 5 seed CIA Bella Vista, No.8 seed IMG Academy or No. 9 seed Wasatch Academy.

The 19-7 Eagles come into the tournament  after suffering a close loss to CIA Bella Vista 63-60 in the quarterfinal round of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Scholastic conference tournament on March 7.

The 2024-25 edition of the Eagles have been led by senior University of Florida commit CJ Ingram. In 26 games this season, Ingram has averaged team-highs 12.7 points and 7.0 rebounds, while sharing the team lead in steals per game with 1.7 and blocks per game with 0.8. Earlier this month he was named a Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Honorable Mention, a Nike EYBL Scholastic second team All-Conference member and All-Defensive team member.

Dante Allen, a senior Villanova commit, is second on the team in scoring averaging 11.7 points per game, while averaging a team-high 3.8 assists and a team co-high 1.7 steals per game, en route to earning a spot as a Nike EYBL Scholastic third team All-Conference member.

Another standout has been Hudson Greer. The sharpshooting guard, who is committed to Creighton University, leads the team in three-point field goals made with 50, while shooting 43 percent from behind the arc (50-for-116). He was named a Nike EYBL Scholastic third team All-Conference member.

All quarterfinal, semifinal and championship round games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks, while a decision is still to be determined if the opening round games will be streamed.

MVA's potential quarterfinal round and semifinal round games on April 3 and 4 will be televised on ESPN2, while the championship game on April 5 will be televised on ESPN.
