Montverde Academy baseball team was  triumphant under the lights over Westminster Academy 5-2 on Friday evening at Lindor Field.

After the visiting Lions scored a run in the top of the first inning, the Eagles tied the game when Jonathan Valdes hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Eagles tie the game at one in the bottom half of the inning.

An RBI ground out by Santi Marin gave the Eagles the lead, 2-1 in the bottom of the second and MVA led the rest of the way.

MVA added another run in the third when Valdes singled down the left field line to make the score 3-1.

Then in the bottom of the fifth, Danati Fronduto blasted a two-run homer to extend the lead to 5-1.

Meanwhile, freshman pitcher Jacob Holley pitched a solid six innings to pick up the win.The right-handed pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out seven and walking two. 

Tyler Severs threw one shutout inning of relief to pick up the save.

Ryan Dejnak started on the mound for Westminster Academy. Only gave up three hits and three unearned runs over four innings, striking out one and walking two.

The Eagles, now 5-4 on the season, return to action on Monday for a game against Eustis High School at 10:00 am for day one of the 2025 Florida League High School Invitational in Sanford.
