The Montverde Academy softball team dominated Lecanto High School with a 16-1 victory on Wednesday evening to finish the regular season at 23-2 before the start of the playoffs.

"That's how we wanted to end our season, with that type of game," said head coach Kahley Armstrong. "Just hit after hit, home runs and bunts and playing defense."

Addie Poe went 2-for-4 with a double and her team leading eighth home run of the year, her fourth in as many games.Taboas, meanwhile, tied the Montverde Academy softball record for most stolen bases in a career, with her 95th base swipe.
"I'm super grateful, I couldn't have done it without my coaches , they are always pushing me and helping me to work harder everyday," said Taboas.
Pitcher La'Breah Sands earned the win after pitching the first two innings and allowing no runs on one hit with six strikeouts.
The Eagles are ranked number 11 in the country and number two in the state of Florida, and are looking to repeat as state champions. They return to the field on Tuesday for a home game in the semifinal round of the district championship where they anticipate being the No.1 seed for the tournament.
