Montverde Academy is proud to announce that softball pitcher Nevaeh Williams has been named the Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 27.
Williams earned the honor after a phenomenal performance in the Eagles' 7-2 victory over fellow top-10 state-ranked Parrish Community School on April 22. In the highly anticipated matchup, Williams was dominant in the circle, pitching the first 6.0 innings without allowing a run. She gave up just two hits and struck out 12 batters, leading Montverde Academy to a 7-2Â win.
This season, Williams has continued to shine, posting a 13-2 overall record with a 0.97 earned run average. She has pitched 79 2/3 innings and has struck out 139 batters, solidifying her reputation as one of the premier pitchers in the state.
Last season, Williams was honored as the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 3A Softball Player of the Year after her outstanding season, which included serving as the ace of the pitching staff of Montverde Academy softball's first ever Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championship.
Over the course of her career, Williams, an Ole Miss commit, has compiled a 44-12 record with a 1.08 earned run average. She has thrown 370 2/3 innings and struck out a Montverde Academy-record 475 batters. Her 44 career wins also mark the most in school history.
Williams and her Eagle teammates return to the field on Tuesday for a game against The First Academy in the semifinal round of the FHSAAÂ Class 2A District 7 tournament at 4:00 pm.
