Montverde Academy's quest for a fourth straight national championship came to a heart-wrenching end Saturday morning, as the Eagles fell 80-78 in overtime to IMG Academy in the championship game of the 2025 Chipotle High School Nationals at Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana.

The Eagles, led by senior standout Saniyah Hall and junior forward Agot Makeer, controlled much of the game and looked well on their way to defending their title.

MVA held a commanding 56-39 lead late in the third quarter. Hall powered the effort with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, along with five assists. Makeer matched her with 20 points of her own, anchoring both ends of the floor.

But IMG Academy refused to go quietly. The Ascenders responded with a furious rally, closing the gap in the fourth quarter and eventually tying the game at 73-73 just before the end of regulation.

IMG edged the Eagles 7-5 in overtime to escape with the championship in a rematch of last year's national championship.

It was a bitter finish to a game that Montverde had largely controlled. The Eagles dictated the pace for three quarters and looked every bit the reigning three-time national champions. 

Montverde Academy ends its season at 26-2 and an appearance in the national championship game for the foruth consecutive year.
