Game 1: Faith Family Academy over Dr. Phillips 69-59
Faith Family Academy opened the 2026 rendition of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) with a 69-59 win over Dr. Phillips on Thursday afternoon.
Gavin Placide recorded a double-double with game-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds along with four steals. Mauritius Miles, Jr. added 16 points in the win for Faith Family Academy. Teammate Gallagher Placide scored 13 points and had five rebounds.Â
Dr. Phillips had four players score in double figures, led by Josiah Gilliard with 15, along with seven assists. Meanwhile Caleb Smith had 13 points, Malaki Baker 12 and Isaiah Gillard 11.
Faith Family Academy led most of the way. The Eagles led 18-9 by the end of the first quarter, and had a 30-25 lead at halftime. Faith Family Academy outscored the Panthers 27-14 in the decisive third quarter to pull away in the latter stages of the game.Â
Faith Family Academy held a decisive 35-15 advantage in rebounds, including 14-1 on the offensive glass leading the Eagles to a 13-0 advantage on second chance points. Faith Family Academy also held a sizable 26-16 advantage in the paint.
Game 2: DME Academy over Bethel Academy 70-63
DME Academy defeated Bethel Academy 70-63 in the second game of day one of the MAIT tournament.
Maddox Harden led DME off the bench with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Meanwhile Ryan Hampton scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Yohane Kabongo added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win. Chrinovic Kitenge had 10 points for DME.
Devin Toatley led Bethel Academy with 21 points, while Makiah Gray added 16 with five rebounds. Dhruv Iyer had 13 off the bench for Bethel.
Both teams shared the lead at certain points in the game. Down 33-30 at halftime, DME used a 24-13 third quarter advantage to take the lead and maintain control the rest of the way.
After shooting just 38 percent (11-for-29) in the first half, DME connected on 54 percent (14-for-26) in the second half to keep Bethel Academy at bay.
Game 3: The Rock School over Riviera Prep 82-78
The Rock School built a 16-point lead early in the fourth quarter and withstood a ferocious run by Riviera Prep in the latter stages to win 82-78 in the third game of the first day of MAIT.
The Rock School was led by Zaire Colbert with 22 points. Jacob Pleyer added 16 points and five rebounds for the Lions, while Deandre Harvey had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Joseph Hartman had a game-high 11 assists.
Riviera Prep was led by Quincy Douby, Jr. with a game-high 32 points. Laron Mack, Jr. added a double-double off the bench with 12 points and 10 rebounds.Â
The Rock School's defense forced Riviera Prep into 20 turnovers, resulting in 23 points off turnovers for the Lions. Overall The Rock School held a 23-11 advantage in that stat.
Despite the loss, Riviera Prep shot an electric 57 percent from the field (33-for-58), including 73 percent (24-for-33) in the second half.
Game 4: Montverde Academy over Northside Christian 90–34
Montverde Academy closed out the first day of the 2026 Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) with a dominant 90–34 victory over Northside Christian on Thursday night on campus.
Montverde Academy set the tone early, scoring the first 18 points of the game and leading from start to finish. The Eagles built a 29–10 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended the advantage to 45–16 by halftime.
Montverde Academy shot 54 percent from the field (32-for-59), including 62 percent (16-for-26) in the first 16 minutes of play. Oneal Delancy led all scorers with 17 points and added six rebounds. Joe Philon III was perfect from the field, shooting 5-for-5 and finishing with 16 points. Derek Daniels recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while also tallying three blocks. Malachi Booker added 13 points off the bench, and Javion Tyndale posted game-highs of eight assists and five steals.
Montverde Academy held decisive advantages throughout the game, including 24–5 in points off turnovers, 17–4 in second-chance points, 46–10 in points in the paint, and a 40–17 edge in rebounding.
Northside Christian was led by Isaac Jacobs with 13 points, while Jordan Bender added seven points and a team-high five rebounds.
