The Montverde Academy girls basketball team delivered a dominant performance Friday evening, defeating Holy Trinity Episcopal 87–59 at the Nest in a game played in conjunction with the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) presented by Discover Lake County.
The Eagles controlled the contest from start to finish, using a strong presence on the glass and efficient interior scoring to pull away early. Montverde Academy finished the night with a 43–28 rebounding advantage, scored 20 points off second chances, and outscored Holy Trinity 50–24 on points in the paint.
The Eagles set the tone early, jumping out to a 26–9 lead by the end of the first quarter and carrying a commanding 48–24 advantage into halftime.
Mia-Elle Lieverst led all scorers with 27 points to pace the Eagles' balanced offensive attack. Jordan Speller added 20 points and six assists, while Jayla Forbes recorded a dominant double-double with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Kendall Perry chipped in 12 points, and Jamila Ray rounded out the scoring in double figures with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.
With the victory, Montverde Academy improves to 14–3 on the season.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday, February 5, when they host IMG Academy at the Nest. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
