What a night at the ballpark.
Montverde Academy baseball erased multiple deficits and delivered a dramatic 7-6 walk-off win in 10 innings over Lake Minneola High School in MVA's 2026 home opener at Lindor Field.
The Eagles showed grit all evening, but the 10th inning will be remembered for a long time.
A 10th Inning to Remember
The rally began when Rainer Garcia reached on an error to open the bottom of the 10th. Michael Alicea followed by ripping a double to move Garcia to third, putting immediate pressure on Lake Minneola. Odanyx Ofarril then drew a walk to load the bases with no outs.
Lake Minneola responded by recording two straight outs, suddenly shifting the momentum and putting MVA on the brink.
But the Eagles never blinked.
Carlos Feliciano worked a clutch bases-loaded walk to bring Garcia home and tie the game at 6-6. Moments later, Miguel Ramos stayed patient at the plate and drew another bases-loaded walk, forcing in Alicea for the walk-off winner and sending the Eagles pouring out of the dugout in celebration.
Climbing Back All Night
Lake Minneola struck early with single runs in the first and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead. MVAÂ cut the deficit in half when Feliciano doubled home Max Irving, who had reached on a walk.
The visitors extended their lead with one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to build a 5-1 advantage.
That's when the Eagles answered in a big way.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ramos ripped a single up the middle and chaos followed. A three-base error allowed both runners on base to score — and Ramos never stopped, coming all the way around to score himself to suddenly pull MVA within one at 5-4.
Then in the seventh, MVA completed the comeback. Ofarril reached base and Max Irving delivered in a big moment, lacing an RBI double to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
Standout Performances
Ramos finished 2-for-4 at the plate and delivered the decisive walk-off RBI. Feliciano went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, including the clutch game-tying walk in the 10th.
Andres Morillo was a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and was outstanding on the mound. He earned the win with 4.0 innings of relief, allowing just one run on three hits while keeping Lake Minneola off balance down the stretch.
It wasn't always clean. It wasn't always easy, but MVA is now 4-1 this year and winners of three straight.
MVA returns to the diamond next Friday, February 27 for a game against Mary Persons High School on day one of the Georgia / Florida Border War tournament in Tifton, Georgia at 3:00 pm.
