Montverde Academy baseball picked up two victories on Saturday at the Georgia/Florida Border War tournament in Tifton, Georgia, defeating Clay High School 6-4 and Ola High School 7-1. The Eagles finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record and improved to 7-1 overall on the season.
Montverde Academy opened the day with a 6-4 win over Clay behind a balanced offensive effort. Max Irving led the way, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and one RBI. Miguel Ramos finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Carlos Feliciano went 2-for-3 at the plate. Pablo Borbely added two hits in four at-bats, and Andres Morillo went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
Kameron Diederichs earned the win on the mound, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out three.
The Eagles continued their strong play in the second game of the day with a 7-1 victory over Ola. Irving delivered another big performance, going 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and four runs scored. Santi Marin contributed two hits, while Tank Chavous went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Alex Bello earned the win, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings and allowing three hits.
Montverde Academy returns home on Tuesday to host IMG Academy at 6:00 p.m.
