Montverde, Fla. (March 24, 2026) – Baseball player Andres Morillo has been named Montverde Academy's Student-Athlete of the Week following an impressive showing during the Eagles' Spring Break tournament in Orlando.
Morillo batted .300 on the week (3-for-10) and delivered a standout performance in the Eagles' 8-7, nine-inning victory over Monsignor Pace High School in the third-place game of the tournament on Friday.
In that game, Morillo went 3-for-6 with a run scored, two doubles, and two runs batted in, helping power the Eagles to a thrilling extra-inning win.
On the season, Morillo is batting .333 (13-for-39) with seven runs scored, eight doubles, and 12 RBIs. His eight doubles lead the team, while his 12 RBIs and .538 slugging percentage both rank second on the team. He also carries a .426 on-base percentage and an impressive .964 OPS.
A sophomore in his first year with the varsity program, Morillo has made an immediate impact in the Eagles' lineup with his consistency and extra-base production.
Off the field, Morillo lists World History as his favorite class and says his favorite part about Montverde Academy is the diversity of the community.
Montverde Academy continues its season this week as the Eagles look to build on their strong play. Their next game is Thursday at Lake Highland Prep at 6:30 pm.
