Montverde Academy's boys and girls track & field teams are set for the biggest stage of the season as they travel to Jacksonville to compete in the FHSAA Class 2A State Championships at the University of North Florida on Thursday.

The Eagles enter the state meet with strong momentum following dominant showings at the Region 2 Championship in Wildwood. The girls captured their fifth consecutive regional title, while the boys placed third in a highly competitive 28-team field.

MVA's girls team will be chasing history once again, looking to secure its second state championship in the last three years. The Eagles have leaned on a balanced attack all season, with strength across sprints, distance events, hurdles, relays, and field events. Regional champions such as Jizelle Holland (100 hurdles and 400 hurdles), Nakira Hudson (400 meters), Angelica Wolfe (800 meters), DaQuana Howell (200 meters), and Julia Saelg (pole vault) will be key contributors as MVA looks to bring another title back to campus.

On the boys side, the Eagles have their sights set on adding to an already impressive run, aiming for their third state championship in five years. MVA showcased its depth at regionals with multiple event winners, including Samuel Johnson (triple jump, long jump), Grant Williams (pole vault), and Zydon Furbert (400 meters), all of whom are expected to contend for state championships.

With both teams featuring elite talent and championship experience, MVA enters Thursday's meet ready to compete among the best in Florida as the Eagles look to cap off their seasons with more hardware on the state stage.
