Montverde, Fla. (July 15, 2026) – Montverde Academy Athletics is excited to announce the launch of the Talons Dance Team, a reimagined program that reflects a renewed focus on dance performance, school spirit, and student development. Jennifer Guerrini has been named the inaugural head coach.
Formerly known as the Pom Squad, the Talons Dance Team, a program for Upper School students, has been restructured to focus exclusively on dance. The program will serve as Montverde Academy's official sideline and halftime dance team during the winter athletic season and will no longer include a cheer component or year-round performances. The updated structure creates a more focused experience for student-athletes while enhancing the game-day atmosphere at Eagles athletic events.
Guerrini, who is a fourth-grade teacher in the lower school, brings an impressive combination of professional performance, coaching, and educational experience to the program. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, she earned bachelor's degrees in English and Elementary Education while completing a minor in Dance and Choreography. As a three-year member of VCU's nationally recognized Gold Rush Dance Team, she performed at NCAA Division I athletic events, including nationally televised postseason contests.
In addition to her collegiate career, Guerrini performed with the NFL's Washington Commanders Cheerleaders and later founded and directed the inaugural dance team at Windermere High School. She has also spent more than a decade choreographing award-winning routines for competitive and school-based programs while serving as an educator in Central Florida.
"I am incredibly honored to join the Montverde Academy family as the Head Coach of the Talons Dance Team," Guerrini said. "I look forward to building a program that emphasizes excellence, discipline, and teamwork while creating an environment where every student-athlete is empowered to grow as both a dancer and a leader within our school community. I'm excited to continue the tradition of excellence and help elevate the Talons Dance Team to great heights."
The Talon Dance Team will perform throughout the fall and winter seasons at select Montverde Academy athletic events, bringing energy, entertainment, and school spirit to the Eagles community.
Upper School students interested in joining the Talon Dance Team are invited to attend an interest meeting on Friday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. in Classroom 107 of Roberts Gym. Additional information regarding auditions and team expectations will be shared at the meeting.
