MONTVERDE, Fla. (August 25, 2026) — Montverde Academy Athletics is proud to announce girls volleyball standout Eva Bardales as the first MVA Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2026-27 school year.
Bardales earned the honor following an impressive opening week in which she made her presence felt in nearly every phase of the game, helping the Eagles begin the season with a pair of competitive performances against McKeel Academy of Technology and The First Academy.
The 11th-grader opened the season with a tremendous all-around performance in MVA's 3-1 victory at McKeel Academy of Technology on August 18 where she recorded 10 kills while adding four service aces, seven digs and four blocks. Her ability to contribute offensively, defensively and from the service line played a major role in helping the Eagles earn the victory in their first regular-season match of the year.
Two nights later, Bardales continued her strong start as MVA hosted The First Academy at The Nest. Despite the Eagles falling 3-1, Bardales remained an impact player, finishing with six kills, seven digs and two blocks.
Through the first two matches of the season, Bardales totaled 16 kills, 14 digs, six blocks and four service aces, showcasing the versatility and consistency that have made her an important part of the MVA lineup.
Now in her second year at MVA, Bardales has continued to develop as both a student and an athlete. A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, she has aspirations that extend well beyond her high school career. Bardales hopes to one day play volleyball professionally while also pursuing a career as an architect.
Her interests in design and problem-solving carry over into the classroom, where Bardales lists Algebra II Honors as her favorite class at MVA.
Bardales and the Eagles will return to action on Friday, August 28, when they travel to Lakeland for a match at George Jenkins High School. The junior varsity match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 5:00 p.m.
