Montverde, Fla. (August 24, 2026) — There's a new voice and storyteller joining the Montverde Academy sports media team this year. Montverde Academy Sports Information Manager and Sports Media instructor Michael Damon is excited to welcome senior McKenzie McIntire as an independent study student for the 2026–27 school year.
A first-year student at Montverde Academy, McIntire brings an abundance of experience to the table. With a strong background in sports journalism, broadcasting and photography, she is ready to jump in and help tell the stories of Montverde Academy's student-athletes.
Before arriving at MVA, McIntire served as president of her previous high school's Sports Media and Sports Content Creation group, where she worked as a head reporter and anchor. She was also a member of the school's yearbook staff since her freshman year and became Editor-in-Chief after her sophomore year. Her work has always centered around one goal: making sure every team, athlete, and organization gets its moment in the spotlight.
McIntire has also built an impressive resume behind the camera. As a student photographer and media manager at her previous school, she covered boys basketball, baseball, and both the boys and girls swim teams. From the sidelines to the pool deck, she developed a love for capturing the moments that make sports special. Now, she'll bring that same energy to the sports media efforts at Montverde Academy.
As an independent study student, she will work closely with Mr. Damon while taking ownership of projects involving sports writing, digital content creation, photography, and content for the Montverde Academy athletics website and social media platforms. And when she's not telling the stories of MVA athletes, she'll be in the water herself as a member of the girls swim team.
"McKenzie McIntire is very poised, confident and passionate about this field. She has already demonstrated that she is a self-starter who understands storytelling and content creation," said Mr. Damon. " I'm excited to give her opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects. She is going to be a tremendous asset to our sports media efforts this year."
