BJ Watson

BJ Watson is in his second season as a coach with the Center for Basketball Development at Montverde Academy.

He is a 2016 graduate of Park University where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He earned his MBA  there in 2019.

As an undergraduate, Watson had a basketball playing career that saw him earn numerous accomplishments. In 2015, he earned Champion of Character Medal and was named to the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic All-Tournament team. In 2016 he was named third team All-Conference while helping the team earn a spot in the NAIA national tournament. In 2017, he was named an NAIA All-American, a first team All-Conference, en route to leading the Pirates to another NAIA tournament appearance.As a whole, Watson played in 63 career games and averaged 14.0 points per game, while shooting almost thirty-seven percent from three point range.

Prior to that, the Kansas City, Kansas native played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College, where he helped lead the team to the 2013 regional championship and an NJCAA Division I national tournament appearance. He was named the team's most inspirational player in 2014.

Watson credits Park University men's basketball coach Jason Kline and Kansas State assistant men's basketball coach Rodney Perry for being his biggest mentors.
