Montverde, Fla. (December 21, 2023)— The list of accomplishments in the career of boys' basketball head coach Kevin Boyle just got greater.
On Wednesday evening, the legendary basketball coach was inducted as one of the five members to be inducted into the City of Palms inaugural Hall of Fame class.
With his family, coaching staff and players alongside, Boyle was inducted during a ceremony at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers where the 50th annual City of Palms Classic is currently being held this week.
Boyle's coaching success in the City of Palms Classic proved him to be a no-brainer for the inaugural class induction. His resume in the prestigious tournament includes a 53-13 overall record and six tournament championships, including the last five with MVA (2012, '13, '16, '19 and '21). The other championship was with St. Patrick's High School (2010) where he coached before coming to MVA in 2011.
One of the most successful high school basketball coaches as is, Boyle's resume also includes six GEICO High School National Championship with dozens of his former players going on to play professionally, including the NBA, the G-League and other professional leagues around the world.
Boyle's current Montverde Academy boys' basketball roster has been in action this week at the City of Palms Classic on a quest for its sixth tournament championship, and Boyle's seventh overall. The Eagles were a 110-57 winner over The Cannon School in the first round on Monday, and MVA returns to action on Thursday evening for a quarterfinal round game against Archbishop Stepinac at 5:15 pm.
