Congratulations to Montverde Academy incoming Junior Yohane Griffin, a native of Federal Way, Washington, and a member of SIMA, who has been selected to be part of the State Washington Youth Soccer 50th Anniversary Gala! The guest speaker at the Gala will be Jill Ellis, the US Women Soccer Team National Head Coach and Adrian Hanauer the owners of the Major League Soccer team the Seattle Sounders. There will also be past and present pro-players and coaches at the event.
Born in Malawi, Africa, Yohane moved to the USA at the age of eight – entering school at 3rd grade. The video below details his harrowing story of coming to the United States and his soccer journey.
Also, Yohane was inducted into the National Society for High School Scholars on Saturday, August 13 at George Washington University in Washington D.C. Way to go, Yohane!
