Update April 3, 2017:
Despite 25 points from the No. 1 rated sophomore in the country, R.J. Barrett, (3) Montverde Academy fell just short of the 2017 DICK'S High School Nationals championship, falling to La Lumiere (IN) 70-52 last Saturday, April 1.
The Eagles (26-5)Â were going for their fourth National Championship in five years under head coach Kevin Boyle.Â
"Collectively there was a uniqueness to this team, everyone fed off each other," Boyle said. "They recognized the strengths and weaknesses of their teammates. It's a blessing to be around them and they knew it took sacrificing egos to accomplish their goals."
Montverde Academy returns all but seven players for next year including Barrett and 15th ranked overall sophomore Andrew Nembhard.Â
