Montverde Academy Alumnus Dakari Johnson and former NBA athlete for the Oklahoma City Thunder, has signed a deal to play for the Qingdao Eagles in China according to the Jinan Times.
This will be a great opportunity for Johnson as he will not only get to know how international basketball play operates but also receive a great experience overseas.
The Qingdao Eagles finished the 2017-18 season with a record of 11-27, fifth worst out of 20 possible teams, and they did not make the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) playoffs. Johnson will add "more toughness" and "a better center option" for the Eagles and hope to make them a championship contender in the CBA playoffs.
In his time at Montverde Academy back in 2013, Johnson ended up averaging 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game as a senior. He also earned selection to the 2013 McDonald's All-American Boys Game and Jordan Brand Classic. Considered a five-star recruit by ESPN.com, Johnson was ranked as the No. 2 center in the nation in 2013.
MVA wishes the best of luck to Dakari Johnson and his basketball endeavors overseas.
