Montverde Academy student-athlete Moses Moody announced his commitment to the University of Arkansas during an open ceremony at Arkansas Fitness & Athletics in Little Rock (Ark.) on Saturday, February 9.
"It was the perfect fit for me," said Moody. "I am close to home and meeting with the Head Coach [Eric Musselman] I saw that I could really get the pro experience. He has coached in the pros, has connections, and the knowledge he has will provide great opportunities for me.
Listed as the No.29 prospect in the ESPN Top 100 national rankings, Moody will prove to be a dominant force for the Razorbacks. According to 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer, Moody is a smooth player who shoots high-quality shots and projects as a first-round NBA draft choice.
The Little Rock native held scholarship offers from Ohio State University, University of Kansas, Auburn University, University of Florida, University of Oregon, University of Oklahoma, University of Texas and many others. His top three final schools came down to the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia and the University of Arkansas. After his verbal commitment, Moody joined Davonte Davis who was also apart of the 2020 class that will join the Razorbacks next fall. With Moody and Davis now on board, Musselman and the team can turn more of their focus to three other in-state targets including four-star power forward Chris Moore of West Memphis, four-star center Jaylin Williams of Fort Smith Northside, and four-star guard KK Robinson, who is originally from Bryant but now attends Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson (Va.).
Additionally, the Razorbacks are awaiting a decision from four-star power forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton of Andrews Osborne Academy in Toronto, and are still in the mix for four-star wing Kyree Walker, who has chosen to leave Hillcrest Prep in Arizona and plans to either join a college program or play overseas at midterm.
Moses now joins six other MVA players who have committed to NCAA Division I colleges.
Cade Cunningham - Oklahoma State
Scottie Barnes - Florida State University
Day'Ron Sharpe - University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Zeb Jackson - University of Michigan
Anwar Gill - La Salle University
"Moses is a great person, student, and shooter," said MVA Head Basketball Coach Kevin Boyle. "He is starting to become an excellent all-around player and will be a future first-round pick. He is automatic from beyond the NBA three. He has added the ability to use screens to get quick threes and the step-back jumper to get space in either direction."
