2020 McDonalds All-American Ceremony

The 2020 McDonalds All-American Ceremony

What:        Montverde Academy basketball athletes Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State University commit), Day'Ron Sharpe (University of North Carolina commit), and Scottie Barnes (Florida State University commit) will be honored for their official acceptance to compete in the McDonalds All-American Games at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas on April 1. The athletes will be recognized at MVA's weekly assembly by special guest speaker and the very first McDonalds All American MVP, Eugene Lavon Banks (1977), who will present the MVA athletes with their official McDonalds All-American jerseys. The ceremony will mark the first time in MVA history that three athletes on the same roster will be named to the McDonalds All-American team.

More about the Speaker:

Eugene Lavon Banks (born May 15, 1959) is a retired American professional basketball player and he was named to the McDonald's All-American American team in 1977 and was the very first McDonald's Classic MVP. He also played in the prestigious Dapper Dan Scholastic High School All-American Basketball Classic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and won MVP honors of that game. He scored a career high 53 points in his senior year at West Philadelphia High School and was voted as the number one high school Player of the Year, along with Albert King. After high school he competed at Duke and went on to compete in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs.
