The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team closed out its slate of games in the 2022 'Iolani Classic with a 79-45 win over Milton High School in the third place game on Tuesday evening in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Eagles were led by Derik Queen with a double-double of 13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Meanwhile, fellow teammates Cooper Flagg, Dravyn Gibbs Lawhorn and Liam McNeeley notched double-figures in the win. Flagg had a game-high 16, Gibbs Lawhord had 12 and McNeeley had 10.
The game was tied at 17 after the first quarter, but the Eagles outscored Milton 20-8 over the next eight minutes to lead 37-25 by halftime, and MVA coasted the rest of the way.
The Eagles, now 9-2 overall this season, will now return home for holiday break. MVA returns to action on Thursday, January 5, 2023 for the LaPorte Invitational in LaPorte, Indiana against Sunrise Christian at 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
