Montverde Academy girls' volleyball saw its two match win streak snapped on Wednesday as the Eagles lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-19) to host Lake Highland Prep on Wednesday evening.

The Eagles had 26 kills in the match and were led by Ana Julia Peixoto with eight. Fellow teammate Thalita Marangon had seven kills and a team co-high 12 digs. Luiza Manata also had 12 digs for MVA. Bailey Hollis contributed with four kills, five digs and seven assists for the Eagles.

MVA returns to action this weekend for the Florida Gem High School Classic in Wesley Chapel. The Eagles will play two matches on Friday afternoon and three matches on Saturday. MVA's first match on Friday with be against Sunlake High School at 1:00 pm, followed by a match against Lecanto High School at 4:00 pm.

Earlier in the evening, the junior varsity purple team defeated a Lake Highland Prep junior varsity team 2-1 (16-25, 25-23, 15-9). Antonella Gonzalez-D'Ambrosio had four kills and two service aces, while Kiera Casey had three kills and one block. Rosabella Palanti added two service aces, while Nybia Rivera-Alvarez had seven assists.

Also on Wednesday evening, junior varsity gold was in action and lost 2-0 (25-23, 25-15) to a junior varsity team with Lake Highland Prep. Luiza Tanaka-Aranda had six kills, two digs and one block, while Koryn Scott had three kills, two digs, one block and one service ace.
