The Montverde Academy boys' basketball team opened its 2023-24 regular season with an 88-53 win over Wasatch Academy in day one of the Five for the Fight Classic in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Liam McNeeley led the way for the Eagles with 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range. Robert Wright added 15 points, 11 assists and five rebounds, while Cooper Flagg had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Derik Queen had 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for MVA.

The Eagles shot 58 percent from the field (34-for-59) and 58 percent from 3-point range (8-for-14).

The Eagles are now 1-0 on the young season and are back in action on Tuesday evening for a game against American Fork for day two of the Five for the Fight Classic at 8:00 pm Eastern Time.
