Montverde Academy baseball scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie as the Eagles defeated Hoover High School 7-3 in the second day of the Alabama Showdown tournament in Hoover, Alabama on Friday night.
AJ Goytia and Justin Orridge had two hits each in the win. Goytia went 2-for-3 with a home run, while Orridge went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs.Orridge's triple came in the top of the seventh inning to score Anthony Cole which turned out to be the winning run.
Jack Garvey earned the win in relief after pitching 2.0Â innings and allowing no runs on one hit while striking out two. Logan Bevis started the game and went 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out eight.
MVA is now 4-0 overall this season as they close out the tournament with two games on Saturday. The first game is against Loganville High School at 2:00 pm (1:00 pm central time).
