Montverde Academy girls and boys swimming have advanced to FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) regionals after the boys place first out of 10 schools and the girls place second of 11 in the FHSAA District Championship at the Orlando Health National Traning Center in Clermont on Wednesday.
On the boys side, they won the 200 medley relay (1:37.33), the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.95), and the 400 freestyle relay (3:13.30). In addition to their group wins, Cobi Wu won the 100 butterfly (53.25) and the 100 breaststroke (57.64). Lucas Paez won the 200 freestyle (1:46.10), Heitor Tinoco won the 50 freestyle (21.43), and Paolo de Fabrique won the 100 backstroke (54.05).
On the girls side, they won the 200 medley relay (1:49.26) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.51). Along with their group wins, Alejandra Ordonez won the 200 freestyle (1:54.16) and Stella Belmore won the 100 backstroke (59.23).
Many of the Eagles have qualified for regionals, which will be held on Monday, November 4th at the Rosen Center in Orlando.
