Montverde Academy girls and boys swimming came in 4th and 5th place during the FHSAA State Championship.
The girls' finished the meet with a score of 113, leaving them in 5th place out of 44 teams, and the boys finished the meet with a score of 152 which left them in 4th place out of 46.Â
On the girls side, Cassie Jones, Ivanka Bukele, Stella Belmore, and Marianna Bustamante competed in the 200 medley relay, and ended in 6th place. With a time of 1:48.57, they now hold a season best. In addition to the group, Alejandra Ordonez placed 7th in the 100 freestyle (52.03), and was the top freshman in the category.Â
On the boys side, Jayden Chan, Paolo de Fabrique, Heitor Tinoco, and Cobi Wu competed in the 200 medley relay and took home 3rd. With a time of 1:34.73, they have also taken home a new team record.
In addition to the group, Heitor Tinoco placed 7th in the 50 freestyle. He is now the top freshman in the state for the 50 freestyle, with a time of 21.23. His time is also a 13-14 team record. Cobi Wu placed 5th in the 100 breaststroke, with a new personal best and team record with a time of 56.29.Â
