Montverde Academy Shines at the Nike EYBL Scholastic Sunshine Classic

The Nike EYBL Scholastic Sunshine Classic lived up to its reputation, delivering a weekend of high-level basketball and showcasing some of the best high school talent in the country.

Hosted at Montverde Academy's state-of-the-art Edgecenter for Sportsmanship and Wellness, the two-day event featured thrilling matchups, dominant performances, and special celebrations for Montverde's 2023-24 championship teams.

Montverde's Dominance on Display

The nationally No. 3 ranked Montverde Academy boys' basketball team stole the show with back-to- back victories. On Friday night, the Eagles set the tone for the weekend with an emphatic 82-32 victory over Canadian juggernaut Orangeville Prep. Kayden Allen led the charge, scoring 13 points by halftime and showcasing his efficient midrange game. MVA's relentless defense and unselfish offense were too much for Orangeville to handle, and the Eagles cruised to a 50-point blowout.

On Saturday, MVA faced a tougher challenge against the nationally No. 2 ranked Long Island Lutheran. The Eagles overcame a 15-9 first quarter deficit to secure a hard-fought 65-59 victory. Dante Allen led all scorers with 17 points, while CJ Ingram made clutch plays down the stretch, finishing with a double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds). MVA composure and execution in the fourth quarter were key to their victory.
