The temperature on the field was frigid, but the action by the Eagles was blazing hot!
In a highly anticipated game of two highly skilled teams, the Montverde Academy girls soccer team thoroughly outplayed its opponent and won 3-0 against Lakeland Christian at Dan Newlin Injury Attorney Stadium on Tuesday evening in Montverde.
The Eagles took the lead thirty-seven seconds into the game, scoring on their first possession. Joy Palacios gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the first minute of play to set the tone for the evening.
Then Luisa Tannus netted a goal in the thirteenth minute of play to put MVA up a pair.
The Eagles' third goal of the game came in the forty ninth minute on a free kick by Brianna Burkhalter.
Meanwhile the Eagles' defense was outstanding. MVA limited the visiting Vikings to zero shots in the first half and only three all game. MVA goalkeeper Alyssa Strausbaugh needed to make just ohe second half save to preserve the shutout.
The win improves MVA to 8-0 on the season. The victory was also the fifth straight shutout for the Eagles, and the fourth straight 3-0 win.
Montverde Academy returns to action on Friday, December 6 for a game at The First Academy at 4:00 pm.
