Montverde, FL (June 12, 2025) — Montverde Academy is proud to announce that girls soccer standouts Taylor Heaton and Lola Rey have been recognized by the Orlando Sentinel for their outstanding play during the 2024-25 season. Heaton earned a spot on the Orlando Sentinel All-Area First Team, while Rey was selected to the All-Area Second Team.
A cornerstone of Montverde Academy's defense, junior Taylor Heaton was instrumental in leading the Eagles to a dominant 19-2 season. Known as one of the top defensive players in the nation, Heaton's impact rarely showed up on the statsheet—but her presence was felt every time she stepped on the pitch. Thanks to her relentless defense and ability to shut down opposing attackers, Montverde Academy allowed just 14 goals over 21 games and recorded 14 shutouts. The team outscored opponents 80-14 on the year and captured the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district title before advancing to the championship round of the regional tournament.
Meanwhile, Lola Rey provided a consistent scoring threat throughout the season. She finished second on the team with 11 goals and added two assists. She scored multiple goals in three different matches and delivered clutch performances that helped fuel Montverde Academy's success all season.
The accolades for Heaton and Rey are a testament to the strength and balance of the squad—one that combined elite defense with a high-powered offense, making the Eagles one of premier girls soccer programs in the state of Florida and the United States as a whole.
