The Montverde Academy softball team defeated Oviedo High School 11-1 via the 10-run mercy rule in a winner's bracket game on day two of the Montverde Academy Invitational Softball Tournament at the MVA Softball Complex on Friday evening.
With the win, the Eagles will play for the championship on Saturday at 6:30 pm against East Lake High School.
In Friday's win, the Eagles belted out 15 hits and were led by Danika Spinogatti and Leila Susaia with three hits each. Spinogatti was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in, while Susaia was 3-for-3 with a triple and a run batted in.
Meanwhile, Ari Jimenez, Lexi Perez and Luna Taboas had two hits each, while Elena Friedman, Jenna Meder and La'Breah Sands had one hit each.
Sands picked up the win in the circle, allowing one run on two hits while striking out six.
MVA is now 5-1 overall this season.
