The Montverde Academy girls' cross country team finished fourth of 20 teams at the Hawks Last Chance Open Invitational at Lake Minneola High School on Saturday morning. Meanwhile on the boys side, Will Moss competing as an individual, finished second of 224 runners.
In the girls' race, Lyla McMillen, for the fourth consecutive time this year, finished first for the Eagles. She finished sixth overall of 174 runners in a personal best time of 19:08.50. Alafair Scelfo finished second for the Eagles and was tenth overall in 19:44.30. Federica Perez was third best for MVA and 20th overall in 20:09.10. Amaris Munya was fourth for the Eagles and 43rd overall in 21:37.71. Zara Liles-Henry rounded out the top five for MVA while finishing 76th overall in 22:54.80.
Also competing in the girls race was Samantha Schulze who finished 81st overall in 23:02.00, Alon Scelfo who was 83rd overall in 23:07.10, Isabella Kissler who was 102nd overall in 23:49.70 and Nikita Verma who was 141st overall in 25:34.21.
On the boys side, Moss's second place finish came in a personal best time of 15:11.40, while teammate Salvatore Scelfo was 20th overall in 17:08.50.
MVA is back in action next weekend for the Florida State Pre-States in Tallahassee.
