Montverde, Fla. (January 26, 2026) – Montverde Academy boys cross country star Will Moss has been named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 2A Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year for the 2025 season, one of the most prestigious individual honors in Florida high school athletics.
Moss delivered a historic campaign for the Eagles, highlighted by winning the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A Boys Cross Country Championship on November 22. He captured the individual title with a winning time of 15:35.30, becoming the first Montverde Academy boys cross country runner to win the state championship since 1992.
The state title capped off a season defined by consistency, dominance, and leadership. Moss was a fixture at or near the front of every race he entered, including finishing first at the district and regional championships as well as a memorable performance at the Tiger Invitational at Tohopekaliga High School on September 20, where he not only won the race but also set a new course record with a time of 15:39.
An 11th grader, Moss has been a cornerstone of the Montverde Academy cross country program since the eighth grade and has been the Eagles' top finisher in every race over the past two seasons. His steady excellence and competitive drive have helped elevate the program on the state stage.
In addition to his accomplishments in cross country, Moss is also a standout member of Montverde Academy's boys track & field team, where he competes in distance events. His résumé includes:
- 2025 FHSAA Regional Champion – 3200 meters
- 2025 FHSAA District Champion – 3200 meters
- 2024 FHSAA District Champion – 3200 meters
- 2025 FHSAA District Champion – 1600 meters
- 2025 adidas Track National Champion – 3200 meters
Beyond the results, Moss credits cross country for more than just competitive success. He says he loves the sport because it helps relieve stress, a perspective that reflects his grounded approach to athletics. Off the course, Moss is also a student photographer on campus, blending creativity with his athletic pursuits. One of his favorite aspects of Montverde Academy, he says, is the picturesque view of Lake Florence from the track, a backdrop he sees daily during training.
With this honor, Moss becomes just the seventh student-athlete in Montverde Academy history to receive a Florida Dairy Farmers award, joining an elite group that includes:
