Montverde, Fla. (October 24, 2025) – Montverde Academy boys' basketball has been ranked fifth nationally in the 2025-26 MaxPreps preseason poll.
The 2025-26 edition of the Eagles will be led by new head coach Steve Turner, who joins Montverde Academy after a legendary 21-year career at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. where amassed 497 wins, guided his teams to multiple Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and D.C. State championships, was named WCAC Coach of the Year six times, and earned Gatorade National Coach of the Year honors in 2016. Most recently, he was inducted into the Washinton Metropolitan Basketball Hall of Fame.
The program returns key players Nikos Koulisianis, Trace Lopez, Dhani Miller, and Javion Tyndale from last season's roster, while the newcomers include Malachi Booker, Lincoln Cosby, Derek Daniels, Oneal Delancy, Jayden Hodge, Sebastien Ndour, Joe Philon III, and Kevin Thomas.
The 2025-26 season opener, the Eagles' quest for an unprecedented ninth national championship, is on Friday, November 21 against Southeastern Prep in the Miami Tip-Off, kicking off what promises to be another exciting chapter in the program's storied history.
