Montverde, Fla. (December 16, 2025) – Girls weightlifting standout Gabby Joseph has been named the Montverde Academy Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 14 following a dominant performance in the Eagles' home meet against Faith Christian last Wednesday.
Joseph placed first in the unlimited weight class in both the Olympic and Traditional disciplines, delivering the top totals of the meet in each category. In Olympic lifting, she posted an event-high combined total of 285 pounds, setting personal bests in both the snatch (125 pounds) and the clean & jerk (160 pounds). She continued her strong showing in Traditional lifting with an event-best total of 300 pounds, recording 140 pounds in the bench press and 160 pounds in the clean & jerk.
Beyond her success on the platform, Joseph, a tenth grader, is actively involved in the Montverde Academy community. She participates in Key Club, the high school branch of the Kiwanis organization, and has been part of the Kiwanis family since middle school through Builders Club. She hopes to continue her involvement with Key Club at the collegiate level.
Joseph credits much of her success to the environment around her, including her coaches – head coach Kate Snow and assistant coach Bree Lopez-Ruane, who consistently push her toward greatness, even during moments of self-doubt.
When reflecting on Montverde Academy, Joseph shared that the school's diversity stands out most to her, saying she appreciates seeing different cultures come together in meaningful ways.

Joseph and the rest of the girls weightlifting team return to action on Wednesday, January 14 for a home meet against Windermere Prep at 3:30 p.m.
