The Montverde Academy girls weightlifting team turned in a strong performance at the FHSAA District Championship hosted by Foundation Academy, finishing third out of six teams in the Olympic discipline and fourth of six teams in the Traditional discipline.
The highlight of the meet for the Eagles was Cali Flowers, who captured first place overall in the 199-pound weight class in both disciplines. Flowers totaled 280 pounds in Olympic lifting (snatch + clean & jerk) and followed with a 285-pound total in Traditional lifting (bench press + clean & jerk).
Colby Reish also delivered a strong performance, tying for third place in the Olympic discipline with a 220-pound total and finishing fourth in the Traditional discipline at 235 pounds.
Montverde Academy showed depth in the 119-pound weight class, led by Edie Negron, who totaled 160 pounds in Olympic and 165 pounds in Traditional, and Angely Acevedo Marquez, who finished with 145 pounds in Olympic and 155 pounds in Traditional.
In the 129-pound class, Channing Helms contributed an Olympic total of 110 pounds for the Eagles.
Montverde Academy continued its strong showing in the 154-pound weight class, where Nicole Sanchez recorded totals of 190 pounds in Olympic and 195 pounds in Traditional, while Brooke Williams added 175 pounds in Olympic and 195 pounds in Traditional.
The Eagles closed the meet in the 199-pound weight class, where Ella Drawdy posted totals of 175 pounds in Olympic and 180 pounds in Traditional, helping Montverde Academy secure solid finishes in both disciplines at the district meet.
