Montverde Academy baseball lost 15-3 in its home opener against Mount Dora Christian Academy on Thursday evening in Montverde.

Despite the loss Max Irving had a solid performance going 1-for-2 with a pair of runs batted in. Jovan Familia, Angel Penia and Santi Marin each scored once

The visiting Bulldogs scored three times in the top of the first inning, before scoring three more times in the top of the second to lead 6-0 after two.Mount Dora Christian scored again in the top of the third and top of the fifth to lead 8-0. The Bulldogs scored another four runs in the top of the sixth to go up 12-0, before the Eagles commenced a three run rally in the bottom half to edge closer.

Arnaldo Gonzalez started on the mound and suffered the loss after going 1/3 of an inning and allowing three runs.

Montverde Academy returns to the field on Monday for a rematch against Mount Dora Christian Academy in Mount Dora at 6:30 pm.
