Montverde, FL (February 25, 2025) -- Montverde Academy is set to host its annual Montverde Academy Invitational Softball Tournament (MAIST) as the Eagles welcome some top softball programs from around the state of Florida to compete. The tournament is scheduled to be played on campus from February 27th through March 1st.
Besides the Eagles themselves, the other seven high caliber softball teams who will be in Montverde this weekend includes Cornerstone Charter Academy (Belle Isle, FL), East Lake High School (Tarpon Springs, FL), Episcopal School (Jacksonville, FL), Middleburg High School (Middleburg, FL), Oak Leaf High School (Orange Park, FL), Oviedo High School (Oviedo, FL) and Winter Springs High School (Winter Springs, FL).
Montverde Academy, the defending Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state champions, enter the tournament garnering more respect than any time in program history.
The Eagles are currently ranked No. 1 in the state of Florida and No. 3 nationwide in the MaxPreps preseason rankings.
"These girls have worked day in and day out to get those rankings, so they're prepared for whatever this season throws at them. They're faster, they're stronger and they're more determined than ever," said second year head coach Kahley Armstrong. "Going into MAIST, they have one goal…bring it home again! We want to prove to everyone out there, everyone that steps on the field against us, that we're at the top for a reason."
The first pitch of the 2025 edition of MAIST will be at 2:30 pm when the Eagles square off against Cornerstone Charter Academy.
The Eagles have won this tournament the last two years
Thursday's game against Cornerstone Charter Academy will be the home opener for the Eagles. So far this season, the Eagles are 1-0 after storming for 21 runs in a four inning 21-0 mercy rule win over South Lake High School last Friday.
Tickets for the MAIST tournament are $10 each day which includes admission to all games and free parking. All games will also be streaming live on the NFHS Network (subscription required).
