Montverde Academy's baseball team overcame an early deficit to defeat Lake Minneola 13-5 on Tuesday evening, using a powerful offensive surge to take control of the game.
Lake Minneola jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning and three more in the second to go up 4-0. However, Montverde Academy responded in the top of the third inning, plating four runs to tie the game before adding three more in the fourth to seize a 7-4 advantage. The Eagles continued their offensive push, scoring three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach.
Jovan Familia led the charge at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Danati Fronduto contributed a solid performance, finishing 2-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in, while Max Irving provided power with a home run as part of his 1-for-4 night, driving in two runs.
Tyler Severs earned the win on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out four. Ming-Han Kuo pitched the final two innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits and struck out two.
The Eagles have now won six in a row and return to the field on Wednesday for a home game against Harmony High School at 6:00 pm.
