It was the Montverde Academy boys lacrosse team who dominated at home against the Newark Academy Minutemen in a match that saw the Eagles win 8-3 Monday on campus.

It did not take long for MVA to find its first goal. Evan Flanagan collected the ball and fired a quick shot that got past the Newark Goalie for the 1-0 MVA lead.

Newark didn't show any sign of fear as they won the face off and immediately scored to level the game at 1-1.

It was Jelly Lopez who found Blake Kuhn who drove home a powerful shot making the score 2-1. But again Newark was unfazed as they won the face off and capitalized with an immediate goal to tie the game at 2-2.

Gavin Ionelli got MVA's third goal after he drove towards the crease and fired a shot home. But for the third time, Newark stayed strong and capitalized off of good possession to finish off the action for the first quarter with a goal to make the game 3-3 after twelve minutes of lacrosse.

The second quarter started off strong for Newark as a face off win and good shot forced an even better save out of Sam Juhnke who made six saves on the evening.

It quickly turned into the Blake Kuhn show as he scored the first two of five unanswered goals to put MVA up 5-3 as the Eagles shut the Minutemen out the rest of the way.

Evan Flanagan scored off a nice solo run to put MVA up 6-3 by halftime

MVA really proved that they where a force to reckoned with as the Eagles dominated the third and fourth quarters in which Tanner Moore and Nate Kuhn both got goals to cushion the lead all the way to 8-3 and improving the Eagles record to 7-5 overall.

In the end, MVA put out a convincing performance which will surely give them confidence for its next game as the Eagles go on the road to face Trinity Prep Thursday at 6:00 pm.
