The Montverde Academy Eagles hosted Foundation Academy in a district semifinal round matchup at Lindor Field—and delivered a dominant 5-0 victory in front of the home crowd. Senior pitcher Danati Fronduto pitched a masterpiece, allowing no runs on just one hit while striking out 16 over 6 1/3 innings.

The game stayed scoreless through the first three innings as the game had signs of a pitching dual early. In the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles finally broke through. Jonathan Valdes and Max Irving both scored, with the second run coming off a throwing error by Foundation's shortstop after Joevansky Velez reached on a fielder's choice.

The Eagles added three more runs in the fifth as Michael Alicea scored on a sacrifice fly from Irving. Shortly after, Valdes and Fronduto crossed the plate again, extending the Eagles' lead to 5-0. MVA held strong through the sixth and seventh innings, closing out the shutout with Fronduto's dominant presence on the mound into the sevenh inning. Irving got the final two outs of the game to preserve the win to advance MVA into the district championship game for the third year in a row.

"Feels great, team win, and we get to move on to the playoffs, so all that matters is a win," said Fronduto.

Montverde Academy head coach Victor Valancia said, "This game went very well, we played the game the way we were supposed to play, we respected the game a lot today."

The Eagles will play at top seeded The First Academy on Thursday for the district championship at 6:00 pm.
