The Montverde Academy softball team is set to compete in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district championships next week.
After finishing the 2025 regular season with an outstanding 23-2 record, the Eagles have earned a first round bye and the No. 1 seed and will host the winner of Monday's play-in game between No. 4 seed The First Academy and No. 5 seed Lake Highland Prep Tuesday at 6:00 pm at the MVA Softball Complex.
Should the Eagles get past the district semifinals, they will play for the district championship at home, on Thursday May 1st at 6:00 pm against the winner between the No. 2 seed Cornerstone Charter or the No. 3 seed Windermere Prep.
During this past regular season, MVA has dominated in facets of the game. The Eagles have a team batting average of .402 and are led by Luna Taboas with a .663 batting average while Danika Spinogatti followed with a .472 average. Taboas also led MVA with a .667 on base percentage. Addison Poe hit eight home runs while Spinogatti added seven and Miranda Murch five. Spinogatti led the Eagles with 35 runs batted in while Poe added 25 of her own.
The Eagles' pitching staff as a team earned run average of 1.67. They have been led by Neveah Williams with a 13-2 record, 139 strikeouts with an earned runs average of 0.97. Labreah Sands follows with 76 strikeouts and an earned run average of 2.46 while sporting an 8-0 record.
If the Eagles manage to win the district championship, they will earn an automatic bid into the regional playoffs.
