The Montverde Academy softball team defeated Eustis High School 12-0 on Wednesday evening in Eustis.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the first inning before adding on two in the second. MVA then blew the game open by tacking on eight runs in the third innings before adding one more in the fourth to secure a mercy rule win in the fifth inning.
Luna Taboas led the way for MVA going 3-for-4r with a double and three runs. Meanwhile Danika Spinogatti went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. Colby Reish and Audrey Vivino added two runs batted each in the win.
La'Breah Sands picked up the win by spinning three shutout innings giving up one hit while walking two batters and striking out eight. Emerson Gunkel pitched two innings in relief giving up two hits to preserve the shutout.
The Eagles are now 18-2 on the season and are back in action on Thursday for a game at home against Bloomingdale at 7:00 pm.
