The Montverde Academy softball team came out swinging on Thursday afternoon, dominating the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks with a commanding 15-4 victory and proudly claiming the title of District Champions.
Addison Poe delivered a stellar performance, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a powerful home run, four runs batted in and scoring twice.
"We had energy, we did our jobs and it felt good to hit that homerun it was my ninth of this season." Poe shared excitedly. "I'm confident about this season and we are gonna bring home another state championship!"
Leila Susaia also made her mark with a flawless 4-for-4 game, crossing the plate three times, stealing a base, and driving in two runs. She was unstoppable at the plate.
The Eagles played sharp, disciplined softball, striking out just once all game, and their pitching continues to shine this marks their fifth straight game with at least five strikeouts.
"This girls are yelling so well together offensively and defensively," Armstrong said. "It feels good that everything is clicking at this point moving forward. We are exited for what's to come, we are ready to continue competing."
Montverde Academy now boasts an impressive 25-2 record.
Next game will be regional championship tournament which starts on Wednesday.
