Girls Finish Second, Boys Finish Fourth at State Championship Meet

The Montverde Academy girls track & field team finished second by the narrowest of margins, a half of a point behind the first place team at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championship meet on Friday in Jacksonville. Meanwhile on the boys side, the Eagles finished in fourth place out of 56 teams.

On the girls side, the Eagles, who had won the Citrus League, FHSAA district and regional championships coming into the state championship, had two individual wins. Dasia Reed captured gold in the 200 meters in 23.89 seconds, while teammate Nakira Hudson was the 400 meter champion winning in a time of 54.48 seconds. Additionally, the 4 x 400 relay team of Hudson, Reed, Lexi Fraser and Sofia Regazzi won the state championship in a time of 3:45.50 minutes.

On the boys' side, Miles Outerbridge finished second in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters. His second place finish in the 200 meters was in a time of 10.68 seconds and his 200 meters time was 21.12 seconds.
